Grade 5
Grade 5 Curriculum
In fifth grade, students learn explicit skills in organization and time management, which foster success in this journey. Because of their now solid background knowledge, students are given a greater opportunity to explore and examine subject matter, allowing them a greater sense of freedom and responsibility. They are ready and able to synthesize information. They are encouraged to discover and embrace their unique learning styles and work with their strengths in mind. Long-term projects are formulated to encourage students to take ownership of their learning, positioning them to solve problems as they arise.

5th Grade Change Makers Fair
Students identified problems in need of solutions and created a mission statement for their non-profit organization designed to solve or improve situations. They developed relationships with organizations doing similar work and received mentorship. Students addressed health care, poverty, clean water, education, homelessness and animal rights among others.
The Changemaker Fair created an opportunity for students to engage with audience members, network and build support for the cause they worked to address.
In the years that my family has been at Tower I have been repeatedly impressed with how well faculty know each of my children, and how well all of their needs are met. I also love how valued social-emotional skills are at Tower.
