Kindergarten

• Recognize and write numbers 0–20; touch and count accurately using one-to-one correspondence
• Explore early multiplication concepts by skip counting by 2s and 5s
• Comparing and estimating quantities
• Explore place values to hundreds
• Categorize attributes and patterns using multiple variables

The Kindergarten classes attend Spanish class twice per week. During this time, students continue to acquire basic Spanish
through music, movement, and stories.

• Vocabulary is introduced through a story or song, and then reinforced with class activities.
• Students bring home mini-books from class stories to share with their families/caregivers.

Kindergarten classes visit the library once a week. During this time we learn to:

• Become familiar with the library and library procedures
• Show understanding through book discussion and drawing
• Develop a love of books and reading
• Become familiar with technology and safe use of technology

• Clap and walk to a steady beat at different tempos
• Identify and demonstrate the difference between steady beat and rhythm
• Identify and demonstrate an understanding of the rhythm “ta and ti-ti” (quarter note, eighth note)
• Develop more independence and accuracy singing alone and in a group
• Introduction to the instruments of the orchestra

• Practice color mixing, making secondary colors and tints
• Develop and practice observation skills for drawing
• Continue to use geometric shapes and various lines to create complex drawings, prints, or paintings
• Develop decision making and problem solving skills throughout the creative process
• Execute “score and slip” clay joints and glaze a ceramic piece
• Introduce and participate in a community critique using Kindergarten art vocabulary

• Perform various locomotor movements with greater efficiency
• Begin to perform manipulative skills with greater control using a continuous form
