Look closely and you’ll spy silly photos that the Pre-K students took of each other along with other classroom highlights throughout the school year. The photos were combined to create a mosaic of an iconic Marblehead landscape. This one of a kind piece of art is mounted, framed and ready to be enjoyed for years to come. A digital zoomable version of the mosaic image will also be provided.

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.” Henri Matisse knows what he’s talking about and thinks you should find a prominent place for these beauties! Kindergarten students used watercolors to paint flower petals that were then artfully arranged into three-dimensional flowers and mounted in two shadow boxes designed to be hung side-by-side.

First graders sketched drawings onto tracing paper and then transferred their work to copper foil squares using a wooden stylus. Black ink was then used to enhance the designs and they were mounted to a wooden frame. This unique artwork is sure to turn heads.

Second graders used their origami folding skills to create a fleet of beautiful paper sailboats. The boats were then strung and hung from wooden dowels to be mounted from the ceiling. This piece of artwork will add a pop of color and a sense of adventure to any room in your house.

Third graders used marker and chalk pastels to draw self portraits of themselves “under the stars”. The images were then scanned, printed on fabric squares and sewn into a quilt by Quiltlove, a quilting company with a mission to wrap people in love. This custom quilt has a soft backing, is machine-washable and is made to be snuggled in.

Fourth graders worked in small groups to carefully layer sea glass, rocks, sand, and other natural materials onto a 16” x 16” concrete paving stone to create a beautiful seascape. The design was then encased in clear epoxy for an eye-catching outdoor garden adornment you will enjoy for years to come.

The 1905 Chamberlain model of the Beachcomber Dory was handcrafted by Tower community member Bill Kuker in 1988. Long admired by visitors to the Abbott Library, this model replica could soon be yours. The Dory boat first came to be in the 19th century, when members of the middle class discovered a love of recreational sailing. As time went by and the old fishing craft wore out, a need arose for a more uniform “class” boat that could carry more sail and travel faster. The members of the Beachcomber Club of Marblehead met with members of the Alpha Club of Salem and agreed on a boat that became known as the Beachcomber/Alpha Dory. The model Beachcomber will be delivered and set up following the benefit, and it should be kept out of direct sunlight to best preserve its craftsmanship.

at a mutually agreeable time for “orientation.” See the inner workings of the department, from the cell room and booking procedures, to the 911 communications center. After completing academy orientation, your child will be ready for patrol. An officer will pick up your child and a friend before school and head out on “patrol” for “field training.” Learn about patrol procedures and traffic enforcement on the way to surprising their friends at school drop off. Alternatively, the officer can take your child to another event. Sgt. Eric Osattin ’93 will contact the winner for scheduling both the station tour and the ride to school.
