FAQ

Whether this is your first or last Tower auction, you may have a question about the auction so we've put together a list of commonly asked questions below. If we didn't answer your question, please reach out to either Mindy Gyllenborg, Auction Co-Chair, or to Jessie Achterhof, Director of Development.  

Can you explain the timing and format of the event?

REGISTRATION

Arrive between 5:30pm and 6pm with your auction booklet/bidding paddle in hand. Check in at the registration desk in the front lobby where you can:

  • Swipe a credit card to save time at checkout.
  • Purchase a $20 ticket to play Heads or Tails for your shot at winning a lemon scratch ticket tree.
  • Pick up an extra bidding paddle so you can divide and conquer during while bidding on quickie boards.

QUICKIE BOARDS

Between 6pm and approximately 7:45pm you'll enjoy a full open-bar and passed hors d'oeurves while doing some not-so-silent bidding on the 10 quickie boards in the first half of the beautifully transformed gym. Volunteers will be manning each board, taking down bids on all the fabulous items offered on the Quickie Boards. The boards will close one at a time beginning with QB #1 at 7:15pm and ending with QB#10, the Battle of the Baskets board. Then guests will be ushered into the back half of the gym for...

DINNER, LIVE AUCTION, AND FUND-A-NEED

To get things started our professional auctioneer will lead guests in a game of Heads or Tails. It's simple. Pay $20 to play. Everyone starts standing. When prompted put your hand on your "head" or your "tail". If your hand placement matches the flip of a coin you stay standing for the next round. Eventually there will be one winner who takes home the lemon scratch ticket tree.  Guests remain seated for a three-course dinner with fellow parents and faculty. At around 8:20pm we'll kick off the program with the much anticipated drawing of the "A Taste of Tuscany" raffle followed by the live auction. At the end of the live auction we'll rally the support of the Tower community in funding a special piece of the Backyard Project. 

CHECKOUT

Checkout will open 10 minutes after the conclusion of the fund-a-need. Pre-swipe a card during registration to save time and skip checkout altogether. We accept VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, personal checks and cash. Receipts will be emailed upon payment.

 

Is there assigned seating?

Seating is not assigned. Find a seat near friends or introduce yourself to the fellow parent you find yourself next to. This is a great time to expand your Tower network and meet new people!

What are people wearing?

The dress code is cocktail attire. Think dress pants, suits, sport coats, skirts, dresses. 

Should I buy my tickets ahead of time?

Yes! While tickets will be available the night of, we appreciate advance purchases so we may plan accordingly. Click here to purchase your tickets.

What does the auction support?

The proceeds generated by the auction support two important programs that enhance and enlighten the experience provided by the school—the Cultural Enrichment program for students and the Professional Development program for faculty. Click here for more information.

Who attends the auction?

The auction is widely attended by current parents, faculty and their spouses. Because the auction only happens every other year you don't want to miss out on this incredible community event! Grandparens, parents of alumni, friends, neighbors and graduates 21+ are all welcome to attend as well.
