Hello from Tower.

January 6, 2019

Dear Tower Parents,

Happy new Year! I hope you and your family had a terrific two-week break filled with memories and celebration.

As we begin the second full week of 2019 its time to reengage those creative minds and active bodies into the work and fun of learning. We have nine weeks of school before spring break and they are packed with engaging projects and experiences for every student. Here is a short list of what lies ahead:

In the Lower School, Pre-K students will be learning about helpers in their community; Kindergarteners will embark on space exploration; first graders will be studying penguins, while second graders examine the 50 states and begin their cursive writing; third graders will be making 3-D models of Massachusetts landmarks; fourth graders will dig into geography and food sources from around the world and fifth graders will expand their study and understanding of human rights.

In Upper School, sixth graders will dissect "The Iliad" and "The Odyssey" and explore Reforest the Tropics through both their Spanish and Science programs; seventh graders will study energy systems, build power generating windmills and write their own constitutions while studying early American history; eighth graders will present their "This I Believe" essays, weigh secondary school options, and study Boys in the Boat. Meanwhile, the whole Upper School will also be competing on the basketball court or preparing for the musical they will perform in March. And this is only a small part of the total experience for each and every Tower student.

We are also happy to announce a new addition to our community. Kristen Baldacci is our new Executive Assistant to the Head of School. In this role, she will provide important support for the administrative team through event planning, communications, calendar management and various project work. Ms. Baldacci comes to us most recently from Greater Lynn Senior Services where she was the Executive Assistant to the CFO. Prior to that, she served in the same capacity at Marian Court College for the President and the Dean of Academics. Kristen begins at Tower tomorrow. As you come to school, stop by the office to introduce yourself and welcome her to the Tower community.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow.

Happy New Year!
