Hello from Tower

September 17, 2018

Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for our Lower School Parents' Night. It was so nice to be in conversation about the lower school curriculum and the experience ahead for your children. If Upper School Parents' Night is in your calendar for this week, we look forward to seeing you for a busy evening on Thursday.

We're also excited about all of the "firsts" of the school year happening this week: field trips, the cross country meet, kindergarten cooking class, a visit from mindfulness consultant Peter Franklin, the TSPA's Ice Cream Social and the first of our grade-level parent gatherings (2nd grade). It's going to be a great week.

Warmest wishes for those of us observing Yom Kippur, g'mar tov.

MINDFULNESS UPDATE

MINDFULNESS
Mindfulness Consultant Peter Franklin will meet with students and teachers in grades 2, 4, 5 and Mr. Shepard's class, preceded by a visit to the lower school assembly on September 19.

Jo Price shared some of the ways that her youngest students choose to further their mindfulness practice in her music room. From her options:

  1. Listen. Close your eyes and acknowledge the sounds around you without opinion.

  2. Breathe. Inhale for a count of five, exhale for a count of seven.

  3. Visualize. Close your eyes and imagine your favorite place.
