TSPA and HEAD OF SCHOOL COFFEE & CONVERSATION FOR TOWER PARENTS
February 26, 8:00am

Our TSPA will join Tim Delehaunty for a discussion about parents being known and needed in the Tower community, we'll hear from a few parents about their volunteer experiences, and highlight some needs for volunteers this spring and next year. There will be time for questions about other topics as well.

DRAMA NEWS
MARY POPPINS SET DESIGN SEEKS FOUR ITEMS TO COMPLETE THE SETS. 

The student-made sets for Mary Poppins are coming together beautifully, however, there are a few critical items that we're hoping to borrow or receive as a donation to the drama program. If you would like to contribute any of the following, please send a quick photo of the item to Sig Orne to be sure it meets the needs of the show.


  • bench (looks like a park bench/outdoor bench)
  • umbrella stand
  • cafe table and 2 chairs
  • four medium height stools

 

Notes:

Please indicate whether your item is a donation or on loan to the drama production
Items will be in heavy use in the show, but we treat items kindly

Delivery: please deliver to the front lobby by February 15
Pick up: Borrowed items will be available for pick up in the front lobby on March 5

TOWER TALKS SPEAKER SERIES EVENT  |  MINDFULNESS CONSULTANT PETER FRANKLIN

MARCH 6, 2018, 7-9pm

Mindfulness consultant, Peter Franklin, provides training to Tower's faculty to further our understanding of what mindfulness is, how to lead our students in their mindfulness practice, and the benefits of practicing mindfulness. Scientific research confirms that students who practice mindfulness become more attentive, productive and emotionally sound.

 

More information is to come about the topics that Peter Franklin will cover during our community-wide speaker series event. Please look to future Spotlight posts and Facebook for details, including how to sign up for this free event.

A Valentine Assembly Line

FIRST GRADE VALENTINES CARDS FOR RESIDENTS AT LAFAYETTE HOUSE
Our first graders worked in groups of three and four to make 70+ valentines cards for the residents at Lafayette House. Upper School students delivered them during their recent visit, through the Adopt a Grandparent service group. First graders are great at assembly line work, and called this project of love, " A Valentine Assembly Line." NIce.

 

TOWER TOTS  |  FREE PARENT AND TODDLER WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN AGES 2-3

March 1, 2018, 9:00-10:00am
Our small-group, parent and toddler workshops are teacher-led, interactive and fun! Spanish teachers, Jaclyne Ainlay and Anna Walcutt are busy putting the finishing touches on a celebration of Spanish Language and culture, happening on March 1. 
Children at all levels of familiarity with Spanish language will enjoy this event. 

We hope that you and your 2-3 year old will join us. Friends are welcome!

More is more when it comes to summer camp, as the camp generates revenue for our school, and serves as an initial introduction to Tower School for many families.

SOLES4SOULS SHOE DRIVE UNDERWAY
extended through February 28

Sixth grade service class is hosting a gently-used shoe drive. Soles4Souls distributes shoes to people in need around the world. Our sixth graders would be grateful if you would donate shoes of any size or style that your family no longer needs. Collection boxes are located at the Cornell entrance and the Main entrance.

TOWER SCHOOL RECOGNIZED AS A 2018 HONOREE AT MY BROTHER'S TABLE'S UPCOMING FOUNDER'S CELEBRATION
March 7
Tower School will be recognized as a 2018 Honoree at MBT's annual Founders' Celebration. The reception honors the Table's founders and their legacy, as well as some of the special supporters who have helped the Table to thrive over the years. It is an honor to be recognized by an institution that offers unconditional service to the greater North Shore community. For those interested in attending, tickets are available to purchase on My Brother's Table's website.

INFLUENZA NEWS FROM ELENA ARTHUR, RN

Doctors are recommending that if someone presents with the flu or flu-like symptoms, they remain at home for a full five days before returning to school or work. Additionally, students at Tower need to be fever free for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
