The Arts at Tower
Stepping inside Tower’s front door is like entering a particularly eclectic art gallery. Bright paintings line the corridors and stained-glass mosaics dangle in windows. Animals made out of papier-mâché and carved model sailboats created in woodshop dot the foyer. Tower students are surrounded by art every day.
Music and the performing arts are also a valued part of a Tower education. Every child learns to read music, and all students are given the opportunity to participate in a theatrical performance—from the pre-kindergarten’s Little Red Hen to the Upper School’s elaborate spring play. Our folk orchestra regularly showcases its talents at concerts, as do our handbell choir and African drummers.
Tower students experience the creative process every term of every year, and they learn to recognize themselves as artists. Our art program does not merely complement our academic program; it is a vital part of it. We incorporate art so centrally into our curriculum because we know that it is crucial to the intellectual growth of our students.
